IT'Z THE LITTLE THINGZ!
Yesterday waz a Monday.I mean a "Monday" in the sense that, for the most part,it sucked.
I had to change a flat tire in the rain, not enuff people were at work so I had to bust my flat ass like crazy,I didn't sleep very well, they got my order wrong at Del Taco and I ended up with a crappy burger that made me feel like kee-rap in the middle of the night, and the water waz turned off at the apartment cuz the landlord waz fudgin' 'round with shit.
But,it wazn't all bad.In fact, other than all that mess above, for two straight hourz everything in the world waz right, cuz I waz front row center at The King Of Shock Rawkz' show, right under the very leather boots of the one and only-ALICE COOPER!
Ah yes.Glorious, sweet glorious, bloodsplatterin',ear splittin',eye poking, snake bitin',straight jacket wearin' rawk n'rawl! He got chased by vampires, made the only woman on stage bleed, fed dirty diamonds to the ladies, kicked stagehands off the stage-ya know the drill, but nevertheless, the thrill remainz, cuz The Coop never...I say NEVER dissapoints!
He pointed at my girlfriend and sang "Sunset Babies All Have Rabies" to her,he dangled Alice money from a sword above my head, where I managed to snag one,he threatened us,mocked and rocked us!
And of course, the moment we all wait for-The Guillotine. And I couldn't have been in a better spot,az Alice's head waz lopped off, pulled from the basket, dangled over my head by the executioner, who then proceeded to kiss Alice's dismembered head then spew blood all over us in the first row!
Another excellent show from THEE Master Of Shock Rock.
Here be the setlist-
Department of Youth
Dirty Diamonds
Billion Dollar Babies
No More Mr.Nice Guy
Be My Lover
Lost In America
I Never Cry
Woman of Mass Distraction
Eighteen
Between High School and Old School
Sunset Babies

Feed My Frankenstein
Welcome To My Nightmare
The Awakening
Steven
Only Women Bleed
Ballad of Dwight Frye/Killer
I Love The Dead (band only)
School's Out

Poison
Wish I Were Born In Beverly Hills
Under My Wheels

The band waz on fire, the crowd waz enthralled,The Joint waz layed to waste.
Amongst the crowd I saw Bruce Kulick and Iron Maiden's drummer Nicko McBrain.

Here'z some pix of my acquired stuff and the bloodstained Ragzter-

Alice Cooper, Brisbane Australia 28 June 2005

Thought I would breathe some life into this community, with a quick review (also posted in dragontown ) of the show last night.

lice Last night was amazing! Arrived early with my big brother Laurie. Milling around outside the venue there was a diverse array of fans. From the older types, right through to teenagers. Some even dressed up in Alice face makeup which was pretty avid!

Got my camera in no problems (took hundreds of photos and will upload the better ones to my website sometime soon). And the seats were awesome!! SOOO close to the stage!

Billy Thorpe started the night off with a good mix of brand new, and old songs. Got the crowd singing along to "Most People I Know". The sound was awesome (my ears are still ringing).

But Alice?Collapse )

Alice concert last night at the Michigan State Fair
I've seen Alice four or five times now, and I was actually kinda disappointed in the show.  He didn't sing a lot of stuff I'd like to hear, he mostly stuck to old standbys and stuff off the new CD, which I don't have.  He brought the snake out for a couple songs, he sang Cold Ethyl with the blowup doll (You know, the -music- to Cold Ethyl really kicks ass, but I hate that song.  It's just icky.  Drives me nuts.  I want an instrumental version of it.  :P)

He didn't sing Welcome To My Nightmare, which bummed out Britt, and I was giggling because during "Be My Lover" when the chorus goes "She said, If you want to be my lover, you gotta take me home" he added in "And buy me a RING, son!"  I said to the girl next to me "Can you tell his daughters are getting older?"  I believe he's got one that's  probably in her early 20's and one that's not much older than Britt.  So we giggled at that.  We stuck around for two of the three songs of the encore, but it was another one off the new CD so we gave up at that point and left.

It was free, and it's good to see him doing some nice stuff for his hometown, but it really seemed like he wasn't very into it.  It was only a 1.5 hour set, due to being at the Fair, but there was probably a good 20 minute drum solo/instrumental in the middle of it, so it really seemed like he didn't do a whole lot.  I adore Alice, and I'm sure as he gets older doing a full set is getting harder and harder on him, but it was kinda disappointing.

Still really glad I went  There were tons of people there, and even the people who I could tell it wasn't their sort of music and only went because it was free seemed to be having a good time.

Yes it is Alice Cooper's birthday. He is 56 today. In honor i give you this

"Leaving lepidoptera...Please, don't touch the display, little boy, aha cute! Moving to the next aisle we have arachnida, the spiders, our...finest collection. This friendly little devil is the heptothilidi, unfortunately harmless. Next to him, the nasty licosa raptoria, his tiny fangs cause creeping ulcerations of the skin (laugh). And here, my prize, the Black Widow. Isn't she lovely?...And so deadly. Her kiss is fifteen times as poisonous as that of the rattlesnake. You see her venom is highly neurotoxic, which is to say
that it attacks the central nervous system causing intense pain, profuse sweating, difficulty in breathing, loss of consciousness, violent convulsions and, finally...Death. You know what I think I love the most about her is her inborn need to dominate, possess. In fact, immediately after the consummation of her marriage to the smaller and weaker male of the
species she kills and eats him...(laugh) oh, she is delicious...And I hope he was! Such power and dignity...unhampered by sentiment. If I may put forward a slice of personal philosophy, I feel that man has ruled this world as a stumbling dimented child-king long enough! And as his empire crumbles, my precious Black
Widow shall rise as his most fitting successor!"-Vincent Price (from Alice Cooper: Welcome to My Nightmare)

He also now has his own radio show: Welcome to Your Nightman. I wish it was on here.

NEW TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED!!!!

GO! GO! GO!

I'm a little pissed that I didn't know about these sooner; the internet presale has already started for the Merriville show and the best available seat for one person is in the second to last row of the lower pavillion, all the way over to the side! This will not do! I think I'm going to try and make it to the Cleveland show, and maybe to the Michigan show, too. If I'm lucky, they'll announce a date for Indianapolis (where I live).

Why is this community so darn quiet all the time? Liven up, people.

Oh, and does anyone know where I can find a transcript of "Me, Alice" on the web? I can't afford the price on ebay for it, and I'd really like to read it again. I used to be a member of the Alice Cooper mailing list, Sick Things, about seven years ago, and I remember someone posted it, chapter by chapter. Was anyone else on here a member of that group?

Over and out.

THE AMERICAN DREAM VS. THE AMERICAN NIGHTMARE!
Once again ol' Uncle Alice didn't dissapoint last night! The Coop, with a stripped down show rocked the Joint, pulling out some old classics I have never heard live before such as "Long Way To Go"&"Public Animal #9"!Of course there were the standards-"Eighteen","School's Out" & others but the highlight for me was the just incredible energy & musicianship of "Halo Of Flies"with Alice conducting the band like a madman!I just fuckin' love that song so freekin' much!!He had the old style make-up design from his early dayz, pulled out the snake for "Welcome To My Nightmare" and a stuffed female doll that he tossed around for "Cold Ethyl".His daughter, dressed like a bloody messed up nurse danced it up for "Only Women Bleed"and he even whipped out a new ditty from his forthcoming cd "The Eyes Of Alice Cooper"called "Man Of The Year"that had quite a Ramones feel to it.Can't wait for the new stuff!!
He had the crowd in the palm of his handz and made everyone forget the atrocity that opened for him-the beef jerky himself Ted Nugent.Sheesh,he's turned into such a joke.Spoutin' constantly about his American selfishness it just becomes an hour of Ted self indulgence. Now I'm proud to be an American as much as Teddy is but inciting prejudice n' hate just doesn't make fun entertainment for me.Course it was all pretty funny in that Spinal Tap way-Ted,dressed in his camoflage with a stage set up like a war hole complete with sandbagz n' wire fencing became even more funny when after the show the roadies picked up the fake sandbagz with ease(obviously made of of styrofoam).Ted brandished his machine gun, ranted constantly about barbeques, hunting and pulling out a bow n' arrow so he could shoot a cardboard cutout of Saddam in the heart,he pandered to the lowest common denominator of the crowd-brutish behavior and such.
Not to say I completely disagree with his stand but did every song have to be about killin' n' grillin'?Rockitqeen,Ryan,Terry & I expected Ted to toss out beef jerky sticks to the crowd the way Stryper use ta toss out bibles, which all endz up being the same messege-shove our messege down the throats of the disbelivers.Hell,if I wanted to experience that I'd just go to an N.R.A. rally.
Ted's messege only made Alice's show all the more better.Alice has alwayz had a much better take on thingz, mixed with irony, humor n' his own twisted brand of stageshow. He's alwayz had a knack for capturing the confusion n' disenfranchized collective of the American life.He sang "Lost In America"and made more sense with youth of America than Ted doez with his atrochious anti-Dixie Chicks song "Kiss My Ass".
Still,as much as Ted makes a fool out of himself I still gotta say that "Stranglehold"was awesome, maybe cuz it's a song where he shuts his mouth and let's that wonderful guitar solo speak for him.
Alice's band consists of some of the best musicians out there including Eric Dover(who's left testicle crept out of his fishnet pants to the amusement of some drunken oaf in front of us),Eric Singer(perhaps THE Best Drummer Out There!!)and of course the Glamnation Sensation Ryan Roxie on lead-one of my fave geetarists of all time!
By the end of the night my throat was raw from singing along to every Coop toon.My mind was bludgeoned by the master of shock rock and no one can still touch the guy. He's still America's Greatest Nightmare!!

Recording
According to Alice's guitarist, Ryan Roxie, they're doing recording on a new album this week. I suspect that the last album in the Dragontown Trilogy is finished, and this is either the one Alice already has plans for after that or they're doing touch-up work on Brutal Planet #3.

After the Dragontown Trilogy is done with, Alice has expressed a desire to go back to his garage rock roots and do a full-out straight rock and roll album. His current tour is going to be strictly non-theatrical apparently. No new tour dates that I can see just yet.

And last year Hard Music Magazine published an interview with Alice, apparently they had to cut most of it out and recently offered the rest of it online. You can view it here:

Part 2 -- http://www.hmmagazine.com/oe/archives/000149.php

Enjoy!
